What makes us different
Individualized care
Our staff determine your individual needs and concerns during your initial assessment. A treatment plan will then be developed. After completing the required paperwork and after approval, your initial therapy session will focus on the information gathered as well as you and your therapist getting to know each other. Periodically, your licensed therapist will check in with you to set your goals and confirm that your work together with the assigned therapist is progressing to your satisfaction.

The face behind our exceptional care

Doris Mitchell RN, BSN
CEO
As the CEO of Community Health Counseling, I am honored to serve the Shreveport, LA, community by providing compassionate and quality behavioral health services. My journey in healthcare began over 30 years ago as a Registered Nurse, where I dedicated myself to caring for others. Over time, I discovered a deep passion for Behavioral Health Counseling and have since committed to supporting individuals and families in both medical and mental health capacities.
Born in Haynesville, LA, I pursued my studies at Northwestern State University in Shreveport, LA, where I built the foundation for my career in healthcare. Today, Community Health Counseling operates out of Shreveport and extends services within a 50-mile radius, ensuring access to quality mental health care for those in need.
Outside of my professional life, I cherish spending time with my husband and traveling to visit my daughter. I also find joy in listening to music, crocheting, and reading—activities that help me recharge and stay connected to the things I love.
At Community Health Counseling, our mission is to provide compassionate, client-centered mental health services that promote healing, resilience, and overall well-being in our community.
